:Imagination,Physical vastness of our Creator:

Assalam Alaikum:

I always wonder about the vastness of the universe, sure no individual would be untouched by this reality. Need not to describe the extent of this expanding universe. But it raises a rational question, about the physical extent of our Creator, how vast He must be the sole and central care taker of this universe.

Though we Muslims believe our Creator to be unseen as our senses are restricted to perceive Him,but indeed Quran hints at various places about the physical form of our creator.

I often wonder looking up the sky in night from roof of my bungalow about actual physical vastness of our Creator. It will remain unanswered until the day of judgement.

But recently a post by Br,Ditta ''The World of the Noble Angel" did throw an indirect though not fully conclusive light on physical vastness of our Creator.

The article mentions " Abu Dawood narrated from Jaabir ibn ‘Abd-Allah (radhiyAllaahu anh) that the Messenger of Allah said:

“I have been granted permission to speak to one of the angels of Allah, one of the bearers of the Throne. The distance from his earlobes to his shoulders is the distance of a seven hundred year journey.”

(Saheeh Sunan Abi Dawood, 3/895, no. 9353).

First have a look at the underlined part of the Hadith. Now just suppose,a man starts a journey for 700 years. Let us suppose he covers a distance of 25Km in a month (the figure I have taken is very very insignificant). So distance covered by the man in a year would be 300Km,that in 700 years journey would be 210,000 Km. From above figure the distance between two extreme points on the shoulder of the angel comes out to be 420,000km. This is a very very big figure, taken I did start with a journey of only 25Km by the man in a month.

And now I can imagine the physical extent and vastness of my Creator. If we take for granted the above figure of 420,000Km, it itself is 33 times the diameter of earth (diameter of earth is roughly 12750 Km).

Praise be to the Lord of Worlds.

:wasalam:

brother, i think we should not dwell over these thoughts as it can disturb our aqeedah (beliefs).

Imam Abu Hanifa (ra) said in his famous book The Great Fiqh: but He is not a body, nor substance. Neither composed of nor consists of parts of a whole, or a whole without parts.

we should think of His creation not Him!

you can have better understanding by reading this book bhai. http://www.turntoislam.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=7682&d=1289226841
