Asalaamu alaikum -

Let me first say if this is anything offensive I apologize with all my heart! A friend sent this to me and has asked what it says. When I got it on my cell phone I was in the car with 3 brothers - 2 who could read Arabic and one who could read some Urdu. They all concluded it was Urdu but the one brother said it didn't make much sense to him. When we stopped off for dinner we asked the man working at the Pakistani place we ate at if he could read it, and he said he thought it was Pashta.

So... we're all clueless. This sign appeared in LA above Melrose & Fairfax, near West Hollywood, so I doubt it is too bad... but any help would be appreciated!

it's urdu............it is kind of senless.....some poetic person ca tell you better
it says:

till there is jug(can't say what jug means exactly:D,it means eternity i think) in the heaven and the earth
***(i can't see this word)flowers of this world keep smiling in the garden:lol:

sorry it's some sort of a stanza.........and i'm not very good at translation:lol:
that's the best i could do:)

I've never read an Urdu book. However it seems a lot like arabic. Just that its quite cursive. ;)

If my understanding is correct, Urudu uses the Arabic alphabet with a couple extra letters. Rather like how Spanish and English use the same alphabet but with there being extra letters in Spanish.

yeah urdu and pushtu use arabic alphabets........with a lil modifications:)but it's not phusto..the words are urdu and arabic i can't understand completely but i can know it's arabic if a see a text:)

so that's urdu........my least favourite form of urdu....used in poetry:SMILY129:.....writes one thing and means something else.....

wonder what those lines mean.....i mean if you simply read it makes no specific sense.....any body here interested in craapy urdu poetry like ghazals:D

so this has to be to boost ppl..........like there is hope,carry on kinda of sha'r(stanza)[:lol:this sha'ar stuff is more like sher for me:D:D:D]

what about jug....mean forever or eternity.or what
