Can you read people's faces?

ahmed_indian

to Allah we belong
glorified and praised be Allah that mostly (not always) by looking at living beings, u can identify whether its dangerous or not. He gives us the ability to recognise others features. Subhan Allah!

plants: look at roses, jasmine, cactus and u can see which one is more harmful.

animals: look at cats, penguins, rabbits and crocodiles, insects and u can see which one is harmful.

birds: sparrows vs eagles.

even in ppl, many times u can recognise whether person is good or bad, lieing or telling the truth.

but few times, i have proved wrong as well :)

so could it be possible to read compelte character frm one's face?

from what i heard several scholars and read from ahadith, it said that arabs in saudi arabia are good at reading ones face, you will hear many ahadith talking about how the sahaba describe the face of our beloved more beautiful than the moon, they even know if our beloved prophet (pbuh) is feeling happy or sad.

So its possible to recognize several things from person by looking at their face.

i also heard a while back that in Harvard University, they developed a robot that can read your face and tell you how you feeling...

but i don't know about knowing where the person came from or if he is good person or not.

I think the fact that it seems every time a serial killer is arrested and everyone says things like, "But he was such a nice guy" says that no, there is no fool-proof way of telling just by studying the looks of someone.

That said, there are ways to HELP tell if people are good/bad, lying/truthing, and those things are studied, especially by people who would need those things in their careers (doctors, psychologists, investigators, etc). As a teacher, I have never STUDIED this type of thing, but with kids, it is much easier to tell if they are lying (of course, that has to do more with the fact that they are trying to tell you why their homework isn't done, and they seem to be thinking and thinking and thinking of the reason why; my students have learned that I would much rather have them tell the truth and just say, "I forgot to do it" than have any other excuse).

Besides, what would we need judges/trials for, if someone could just come in and study all the faces of the people in the case and decide who was lying? I would not want to rely on that!

Salaam,

Only Allah swt knows the heart of a person, and we cannot view their heart by their countenance. Culturally facial expressions can be effected as well, some cultures are stoic so even in great emotional pain they will keep a "stiff upper lip." Whereas other cultures do full on keening, renting of clothes and pouring ash on one's head while mourning.

Patholigical liars are incredibly charming and their face will appear open and honest...all the while they are knee deep in their deception. I think we should keep to letting Allah swt be the judge and work on keeping ourselves honest and kind.
