is it ok to follow quran and only sunnah that is reported by bukari and muslim?

i have a friend who does not do anything from hadiths unless it is in the recordings of bukari and muslim. no other scholars because he says that all others have some weak hadith in their recordings and that makes all those recordings of that person questionable.

is this ok? do you agree?

Of course not. Not all hadiths are weak, even weak ones can be used for certain issues. If the sahaba collected and used hadiths, and later on the other great imaams, then to ignore hadith is simply illogical as its part of the sunnah, its guidnance from the prophet and we have been commanded to follow the prophet.

As Salaamu Alaikum, they r the most sahih collection of hadiths, once u study hadiths u will find how the chain of narration goes and where it fits n, i disagree w/ the notion that u can follow ALL hadith, that gets u some wide ranging outlooks on issues, not that i'm 1 2 make such a drastic call, talk 2 ur Imam.

generally you can spot a weak hadith when you see something contrary to the what the majority of narrators have said. i mean if there were 50 narrators on one topic ( just for example's sake ) and one of them said contrary to the other 49, i'd say it was a weak hadith. ok let me try again. if 30 companions narrated that the prophet said prayer is invalid without wudu; and one person narrates that prayer isn't invalid without wudu; it conflicts greatly with the majority and would be something that if you knew the teachings of the prophet you would know that the statement made was outside of his character; which would disqualify it.

my advice is to trust the hadith as much as possible. there are many people trying to make certain hadith " weak " so they can suit their own personal needs. who do they really think they are fooling?

dear brother and sisters
even in sunnah that is reported by bukari and muslim we should follow the clearfication by scholar for these hadeeths because you may follow one hadeeth about certain issue and you do nt know other hadeeths on the same issue ( may the ruling has changed over the life of the prophit ) .
about weak hadeeth , only scholars can say if ahdeeth is weak or not . and you know what , the knowledge of how hadeeth is catagorised is the most difficult one because it shed light on the life time of all hadeeth narrators and coud they saw each other , and how they met and so on .

about weak hadeeth ,we apply them , as scholars say , on the virtues issues .:astag:
