Allah (SWT) is Noor (Light), & guides to HIS Noor (Light), Whom HE (SWT) likes, HE (SWT) had guided you, to his straight path, please hold to it firmly, to win this world & hereafter InshAllah.

Allah (SWT) did not create this world randomly, every thing in it has an orbit or a path, and this path should lead us to Allah (SWT) (The Noor). Thanks for Allah (SWT) for sending us The Map (The Noble Quraan), & Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) as an explainer & guider in this world, to show us the right path (his Sunnah) that leads to wide & deep ocean of Noor (ALLAH) SWT, which is full of precious & valuable things of this world & hereafter.

I always respected Yusuf Islam but I'm not happy...

that he has decided to make music again. Music is haram in Islam and he once knew this to be true but now has been perswaded to think it's ok. InshAllah he will change his mind and be guided to the straight path. Ameen.

Mixed emotions

The story of Usuf Islam giving up music for Islaam always had a special place in my heart. Although I never met him I loved him dearly (and I still do), but I am a bit disappointed he has gone back to it. I don't know if am selfish for feeling this way but that is how I feel. His giving up what he loved for Islaam was an inspiration for many people including myself.

ASSALAM.

I know what you mean. I have a few of his tapes and I was so glad they didn't have music. Then when I saw him w/ a guitar it was kind of like a surprise/let down at the same time. I still respect him, but am very sorry that he was/is misguided. May Allah open his eyes. Ameen.

Tv

Asalamu Alaikum,

I used to listen to Yusuf Islam´s Anasheed, and I used to be proud of him as a Muslim who gives up Music to obey Allah and his messenger, peace be upon him. However yesterday, there was a program in TV called ( from Popstar to a prophet to a Popstar) and I was surprised to know that they are talking about Yusuf Islam. I had tears in my heart to know that Shaitan has finally succeeded in turning him back to what Allah and his messenger, pbuh, forbid. what a Fitna!!!!!!
May Allah opens up his eyes once again to the true path, the path of the guided ones. Alahuma Rzuqna Husnul Khatima, Amin

Allahuakbar

Subhanallah i was very pleased to hear that he had reverted, and like many i used to listen to Yusuf's Anasheed, but when i heard that he was going to bring back instruments to play in the songs (namely the guitar) i was deeply saddened that he is reverting (although he may not see it) to his old ways....but what about Sami Yusuf? I mean mashallah his words may be touching and have an impact but the amount of instruments he uses is shockin......one question though.......why do we tend to see Yusuf's songs as wrong because he brought back a couple of instruments and hardly comment on Sami Yusuf?? Is it because Yusuf reverted and we're noticing his old ways agn? what about the ones who may be born muslims but do many bad deeds?

For those who are sad to hear he is "reverting" to music, I think it's better to remember YOUR responsibilities as followers of Muhammad's sunnah by not speaking badly about your muslim brother in his absence, EVEN IF WHAT YOU ARE SAYING IS TRUE, because the standard for backbiting is the person about whom you are speaking may not like what you're saying. Moreover, his sunnah is to make excuses for your muslim brothers/sisters and not to assume something negative. Lastly, we should pray for one another at all times, regardless whether we think they are rightly guided. Wallahi musta'aan.

Assalaam alaikum

The opinion that musical instruments are allowed is somewhat obscure but does exist. Therefore it cannot be condemned.

Some of the posts on this thread are extremely condescending. Remember the guy's almost 60 - I'm sure most of the posters are teenagers or only slightly older - and he makes numerous references to what he has discovered in maturity in the video and other statements. Until you're able to argue from a similar amount of experience (Yusuf Islam's life has involved an incredible amount of experience) you all should really learn your place and speak accordingly.

Imman

As Sallamu Alikum, I think the biggest lesson we can learn from Yusuf Islam’s story is that we must be in good environment or companies and constantly make effort until we die to keep up our Imman. Shayten vowed to take men to Jahannam (hall) with him, and shayten doesn’t give up in his effort and he is very knowledgeable on how to lead men astray. Yusuf Islam made huge sacrifice when he reverted to Islam by sacrificing his fame from millions of fan, and shayten couldn’t win. But shayten constantly worked on him until he meet his objective. Therefore, lesson learned for all of us that once we increase our Imman to certain level, we constantly have me make effort to keep our Imman to that level. Yusuf Islam was one my major inspiration in quieting listening to music. Him coming back to music is big sorrow for me. But Yusuf Islam has time until his death to come back to Sunnah, Insh’Allah, he will. I pray that Allah safeguard everybody, including me, against the evil of shayten and keep our life and death on Imman, Ammen.

Cat Stevens was one of my dad's favourite singers when he was young and today Yusuf Islam is one of mine. He is the role model for British Muslims today - dont take that the wrong way please - of course Muhammad saw is the example we must follow - ohh I hope you get what I mean!

brothers and sisters,
why are you being sorry of yusuf's return to music? do you exactly know what he will be playing and are you in a position to judge people's struggles with shaytan?

seems to me that we should rather be concerned with our mistakes and others' good behaviour.

assalamu aleykum.

Music and Quraan !

SAlams to all,
Yusuf did say towards an end of his interview something like it is easy to deliver a message with a song rather than giving a lecture!! The prophet PBUH never did that although there was music instruments!!

Moreover, He was questioning the Islamic ruling about music being haram or halal saying that there is no clear verse in Quraan forbidding it!!. Well, This is what the Prophet PBUH has predicted early saying that something like there will be a time that people would do things that only mentioned in Quraan and abandon his sunnah. Brothers or sisters with good Hadeeth knowledge may be good at getting the source for this authentic hadeeth for us I hope. Anyway, This Muslim brother should have a fair decision about deen. That is, if you hear different opinions about one particular thing in religion, like music, covering up women faces and others, Just go and follow the Prophet PBUH advice to the companions when they asked him, one day, what to do when islam will divide into 73 subgroups, all will be in hellfire except one.

He said something similar to this, one which practices the same way myselfe and my companions are practicing. I wish to have the exact source of this hadeeth , but bottom line is. Again please help me getting the exact hadeeth reference.

Try to ask yourself on what did the prophet PBUH and his companions do when they read that verse in quraan or about that particular thing in religion. Music was not practiced and was considered Haram and women were covered up like a black bird. Check it out yourself. Do not depend on what A or B says only, ask them to show you a proof either From Allah or his Messenger.

AoA Brothers and Sisters,
Can anyone please quote the Hadeeth of Rasool-o-Allah (SAW) about the Music being impermissible.
People making Music often quote that at the time of Prophet (SAW) entering Medina there was famour welcom nasheed(Tala-ul- badro Alina) being sung by the people of Medina and also "Darbakka" being played. Rasool-o-Allah (SAW) did not object that and smiled at this reception.

Doenot this incident makes music allowed and also the use of musical instruments.

Let suppose Darbaks is the only instrument allowed since Prophet(SAW) did not object on this at this specific incident.

But may be "darbakka" was the only instrument invented at that time. If there had been other instruments they could be allowed too as long as the subject and lyrics are for Holy Cause.

This is a question in my mind for long time, reading this discussion gave me opportunity to ask this.

Expert opinion on this is needed please.

I am not a scholar and i have a deep respet for Yosif Islam May Allah guide us all to all that pleases him .
There is hadiths conerning musical instruments

“The Prophet, peace be upon him, said:

“There will be (at some future time) people from my ummah (community of Muslims) who will seek to make lawful: fornication, the wearing of silk, wine-drinking and the use of musical instruments (ma'azif). Some people will stay at the side of the mountain and when their shepherd comes in the evening to ask them for his needs, they will say, 'Return to us tomorrow ‘Then Allah will destroy them during the night by causing the mountain to fall upon them, while He changes others into apes and swine. They will remain in such a state until the Day of Resurrection.” (hadeeth #494B in Vol. 6, Sahih Al-Bukhari)

Ibn Hajar one of muslem scholars concludes by emphasizing (in reference to Al-Bukhari’s narration):

“This is an authentic hadeeth. It has no deficiency or defect, and there is no point of weakness for any attack to be made on it.

I think only people with enough knoweldge in hadith can judge such matters, not any one (like poor me).

It is so clear that music is haram , thank you for the hadith.

He is an awesome person....

I like to listen to his music, it extols Allah and the virtues of being a Muslim. He has touched so many lives through music.

Can some one show me, in the QURAN, where music is forbidden? Because if that it true, you cannot watch tv, play computer games, set an alarm clock, listen to a doorbell, open the car door, hear childrens toys etc. Music is all around you. The bad music, I can understand, but the beauty of music and talent Allah gave to people, is a gift.

sister you are taking this conversation to another level which will spark heated conversation. I do not think that you read that hadith above. There is no explaination for everything in the quran, and I think you took this to emotional because You like to listen ti musik. And NO is not the same listening to 50 Cent and alarm clock, is not the same listening to bon Jovi and doorbell, do not get confused.
Try to be better muslimah and trust me you will not need any music. May Allah guide us all. ameen!!

The Quran is Perfect Is it Not??

Doesn't the Quran send down all that is perfect and right with Islam, and tell us what is haram and what is not? I can't find anything in the Quran to state otherwise.

and do not judge me as to if I am being a good muslimah or not, that is not your job.
