Asalamu 'Alaykuum Wa Rahmat Allah Wa Barakatu,

I have already started this on other forums. From time to time, I will post up some short poetic reminders in this thread inshallah. Stay tuned.

Wasalam 'Alaykuum.

I remind myself, first and foremost inshallah. Bismillah.

Reminder 1 - Time:

"By time, Verily! Man is in loss,"
Words that are spoken by our Lord, the All-Mighty.
Time an enemy to those who despair,
Time a friend to those in piety.

The breath we breathe and the following exhale,
Numbered they are - when is your last?
Unknown to us, but clear to the Creator,
When will the wasting finally avast?

Time a factor that is lost forever,
Once it's gone it leaves no trail.
So when will you believer, utilize it for Him?
To save you from Hell, so you surely don't fail.

Reminder 2 - Patience:

Indeed Allah is with those who are patient,
Content in what He has bestowed upon them.
Tears may come but their patience is firm,
Acceptance and hope from their hearts will stem.

Do you not think there are people worse off?
Do you not think your not alone in the storm?
Raging continuously but a calm shall come,
Then gradually and eventually it will be back to the norm.

Trials come and trials go,
So be of those who pass the test.
Allah trials the ones He loves and rewards,
Because indeed they are from the very best.

Reminder 3 - Rise:

Today we see the violent sights,
Of sweat and blood and the heavy swords.
When shall it turn into light - not darkeness?
When shall we stop taking kufar as lords?!

Rise O Ummah of the glorious times!
Do you not seek our time of prosperity?
Rise O Ummah of the glorious times!
Where are those who are full of sincerity?!

Rise and strive in the way of Allah,
Rise and re-establish our glorious state.
Rise as One who follow the haqq,
To bring back our honour - we shouldn't hesitate.

Reminder 4 - Remembrance of Allah:

How sweet it is to recite His Names,
Bringing peace to a struggling heart.
The Just, The Loving, The Truth and more,
Lost in tranquility from the very start.

Remember your Lord to escape reality,
Remember your Lord throughout the day.
Remember your Lord to thank Him greatly,
Remember Him everytime you have something to say.

For indeed His remembrance is surely not cursed,
One of three things in this entire existence.
So recite your athkar as much as you can,
The rewards immense so you should be persistent.

Reminder 5 - kindness towards the orphans:

No mother or father to care for them,
Their tears not wiped as they continue to flow.
Time shall pass with the feeling of loneliness,
Looked at by people as being so low.

Do they not deserve a hug or smile?
Do they not deserve a kind word from you?
What about a du'a to ease their hardship?
Or some of your wealth to get them through?

Through the battle of life that continues to rage,
So why not treat them with kindness and care?
The one who does will be with the Prophet in paradise,
So when you see them don't only stare.

Reminder 6 - smiling:

Embracing the face of the humble believer,
Glowing brightly in the darkness around.
A cheerful sight to the eyes of your brother,
As nice as words but without the sound.

So why the sad face O dear believer?
And why the frown when you walk your way?
It takes more muscles to frown then smile,
So why not use it to keep your anger at bay?

The Prophet smiled - it was from his traits,
Also a charity that is easy to give.
So let it glow on your humble face,
And be like the one who was the greatest to live.

Reminder 7 - Slandering/Backbiting:

The poison seeps from your festering tongue,
The colour of blood painted on your fangs.
A lie you speak against your brother,
The skin of his body on your teeth it hangs.

Slandering him to defame his name,
Such an evil doing that reaps of envy.
What a coward you are that wishes for mischief,
But they fear you not for their reward is plenty.

How can you speak such words of falseness?
Against your brother who worships his Lord?
Do you not fear the King of Kings?
Hatred in your heart you have surely stored.

To Allah returns the affairs of man,
So you shall face Him and explain your lie.
The rights of others will be paid in full,
So fear that day until the day you die.

Kindness towards children:

Their hearts a fragile piece of flesh,
They absorb their surroundings - good or bad.
Little they are and so full of energy,
The slightest thing can make them sad.

The mercy on children can be a significant thing,
A smile or word can make their day.
Yet we have some people who devour their hearts,
Their actions so cold even in what they say.

Our beloved Prophet was merciful to them,
To them he was playful and surely so kind.
From his actions came their obedience to him,
His movements and words connected with their mind.

So raise your children but be kind to them,
For you can make or break their path.
They have rights above their elders too,
So when you hear of their rights don't sit and laugh.

Reminder 8 - praying fajr:

The feeling when the night is old,
The morning is born and the birds are singing.
The silence mixed with the reciting Imam,
Will leave you at peace right from the beginning.

A way to fight your closest enemy,
To ward him off and untie his knots.
A way to show that you have the faith,
And that your not someone who dangerously trots.

Trots on the lines of ultimate hypocrisy,
A person who'll live in the lowest of Hell.
Would you like to be this person?
Then try to avoid it by beginning to sell.

Sell some sleep to awake for prayer,
Pray the prayer that begins your day.
Fajr it is that calls at dawn,
Your Lord is watching so get up and pray.

Rekindling a friendship:

A bond like no other is that which is found,
For indeed it didn't come but you had to seek.
Seek to find those who stay beside you,
Your friends especially - they are at the peak.

But I mean those who truly want good,
To come your way and don't wish to maim.
Not those whose faces are indeed like a hand,
Two different faces yet one in the same.

Why is it that you turn away from them,
When they come rushing to be with you?
And approach you they do yet you simply act cold,
And they look at you puzzled, not having a clue.

Having a clue about the selfishness that contains,
The heart of rock that resides in your chest.
Fear your Lord and rekindle the ties,
The ties of friendship with those who are best.

Give in the way of your Lord, the Generous,
And be not stingy in what your hands can grasp.
Give to those who are poor and weak,
For it may be good when you reach your last gasp.

Let not the rope of greed entangle you,
And let not regret consume your heart.
Wealth will increase when given sincerely,
Even though from your wealth you've given a part.

So spend in the way of your Lord, the Generous,
Even if it were even a mere half-date.
Allah forgets not which you do for Him,
For giving sincerely is from the believer's trait.

Du'a:

Where is the hope that had once inspired,
And plundered the depths of your sinking heart?
Has it become of that which is lost,
On a bed of thorns that tears it apart?

Where has your whisper of assistance sounded,
At a time when the world has shown you it's back?
When your Lord has asked you to ask from Him,
Why is it that hope, that you suddenly lack?

He answers the call of those who believe,
And of those who are under the hand of oppressors.
Be patient with your call and you shall see its fruits,
And be not of those who are of the transgressors.

Adorning in silence:

In vain you speak a useless utterance,
Slurring or rambling to gain the eyes.
Where has it gone? The adornment of silence,
Speaking and ranting even if your tongue dries.

Cease from loosening your hasty tongue,
For the Prophet spoke a speech that was small.
But enlightened with wisdom - his words had meaning,
Not using his words to mock and maul.

So adorn yourself with the garment of silence,
If your tongue has nothing good to say.
Dress in its beauty and indulge in its scent,
For speaking with wisdom is the Prophet's way.

Helping families:

Seeing them working a tedious work,
For an amount that you spend in less than an hour.
Returning home with a loaf of bread,
One that it's crusts are every bit sour.

You see their children huddling together,
Like moths to a flame - for a piece of bread.
The water from their roof drops to their plates,
A moment, I'm sure, that you'll surely dread.

So why not ease a hardship for them?
By extending your hand, that testifies to One?
In return, your Lord will ease your struggle,
On a day where you'll be asked about what you've done.

How many times have you wished and dreamt,
While the morsel in your chest had silently cried?
Asking yourself "can I take it anymore?"
As the plains of the world would quake when you tried.

"Happiness escapes me" you began to whisper,
While the candles in the night would burn away.
Their somber glow barely lit your world,
As the stars in the sky came out to play.

But hope remained, as it remains today,
A tether of rope leading away from sorrow.
Follow it you did - getting lost in euphoria,
Content and humbled - you looked to tomorrow.

Whatever awaits you, it is meant to be,
But hope in a Lord Who tells you to hope.
Days do shift and so do their nights,
But all becomes well when you hold onto His rope.

Being content:

You watched as the hours had passed you by,
While patience had settled within your heart.
Always hoping that it'll happen right then,
But another day leaves - you return to the start.

Content with what has become of your life,
You began to plot for a better day.
But some days are heavy with rain from above,
It is then, that you begin, to weep when you pray.

But you fear not the blame of the hasty blamers,
For content is your star in the night of the sky.
Guiding you to acceptance of what has come to be,
And ceasing the flow, of the river, from your eye.
