I'm new to this site, but I've already found it very informative and helpful. I am not technically a Muslim, seeing as I haven't said my shahada, and I don't know how to pray (but I really want to learn) and I haven't even come near finishing the Quran, but I've done a lot of research on Islam and I beleive that it is the truth, but as with all people who want to convert I have a lot of worries. My biggest fear is that I would be a bad representative of Islam because of the very bad lifestyle I've lived before and that people will think I'm a hypocrite, now I know that this doesn't matter because only Allah knows what's in your heart and that only Allah is important, but it's still very scary. It also scares me because a lot (and I mean A LOT) of my friends are Muslim, but not the religious kind, the kind that are like yeah I'm Muslim, but never pray or read the Quran, all they do is fast during Ramadan and the rest of the time they party and drink and chase girls. Allah has already given me the strength to stop drinking and partying and to give up boys, and I am grateful, but I know that these Muslim "friends" of mine are going to think that I'm a complete idiot if (hopefully when) I convert. Because we've spoken a lot and they hate hijab because they don't properly understand it so when I start wearing one they'll think I've lost my mind and I know that they'll stop talking to me, they already have because I've stopped partying, but they will completely cut me off and I'm woriied that I don't have the strength to handle all of the pressure. I know that Allah does not put a burden that we can't handle, so hopefully I will take shahada soon, I just ask that you pray for me if you can (and all other's out there who want to convert but are scared.)
Thanks for taking the time to read, and sorry I took longer than I expected.

I look at it this way better have friends, who prepare you for the eventual meeting with Allah and his remeberance.I think it was naration of the prophet which he said the best of friend is the one who enters the mosque before anybody else and is always the last to leavethe mosque.

so sister hoping the best for you, and the world we are living right now is either you are muslim by name or by practise....it is a struggle but so is life.

all the best InshAllah

Assalaamu Alaykum Sister
Alhamdulillahi Rabbiyal 'Alamin (Praise be to Allah, the Lord of Jinn and Mankind). Don't worry about completing the Qur'an: try your best to do so but you don't have to complete it to become Muslim.

I would suggest that you take the Shahadah NOW. You never know when your time on Earth is up, and you'll say: "If only I had taken the Shahadah a moment earlier!" You wouldn't want to have that grudge against yourself for all eternity.

Allah protects His slaves. So, if anybody tries to hurt you, Allah will reward you and, if He is willing, stop the person trying to hurt you. Remember: "Tumult and opression are worse than slaughter" (don't kill them, lol, but defend yourself (that quote is from the Qur'an).

The mere fact that you are struggling with your friends because you've decided to accept the truth means that Allah will be pleased (If He is willing, for I don't know His thoughts), for you are going through Jihad. You will be rewarded a LOT for what you're going through: either now or in the hereafter (or maybe both, but I would pray to Allah asking Him to allow all rewards of your's to be in Heaven).

My Dear Sister, i can understad very well how u feel i'm used to have the same feeling before i embrace islam.

but let me give u a word of advice insha'allah from the botton of my heart:

u Already say:"and I beleive that it is the truth" so u already know so in your heart you are already a Muslimah and to keep yourself from proclaime it testifing your shahada that would it be real hipocrisy as why would u keep denying the truth?

you shouldnt be afraid of accepting islam never mind your past life any fear cames from sheitan and our ego. the most importan thing its to proclaime it first so that will save u from eternal hell fire insha'allah and will bring all the blessins upon u insha'allah.

regarding your non practicing muslims friends weo be sure that when u take ur step forware they will became very happy and u could actualy encorage them to became more aware of their ISlam and practice.

insha'allah you shouldnt be worry about what you dont know for now as that will came step by step islam took 23 years to be reveled so its not espected from u to know everthing insha'allah most important will be for u to star learning the salat and the fundamentals of islam but with out compulsion.

regarding your so call friends of parties weo what can i say are they really your friends? o just convinience party friends? as far as i know a friend its the one who its happy for u when u are doing good and the one who wants you to be gided on the rigth way and would respect your personal desitions
more over you shouldnt worry about them only for dawah in the future but first its your responsability with the truth and Allah subhanah wata'allah.

also u shouldnt be afraid of been alone as u are more than welcome to this big family call Ummah of muslims so u will become our beloved sister in islam and this is closer than blood.

so if u want to testified u are muslim just have to say:

ashadu Anla ilaha ilalah

wa ashadu ana Muhamadan rasululah

i witness there is non deity exept Allah and i testified that Muhamad is his mesanger

u can do it here and we all became witnesses

Thank you all for taking the time to respond. Knowing that my Muslim brothers and sister who know nothing about me except that I love Allah and Islam are out there supporting me give me unimaginable strength andconviction in my beleifs. I've heard muslim converts say that when you become Muslim you become part of the biggest family in the world and I nevere knew how true that was until now, so thank you all again. One of you who responded said that I could take shahada here and that you'll all be witness, and another said I shouldn't wait and I know that they were very right. I've been waiting until I learnt how to pray etc.. before saying shahada, but now I realise that I should say shahada first because Allah has put it upon my heart and I can continue to learn and grow after I've said it. So here goes:

ashadu Anla ilaha ilalah wa ashadu ana Muhamadan rasululah

Thank you all for giving me the courage to finally do it. I feel know that I am in for a rocky road but I feel at peace. After typing that phrase I just sat there staring at it and repeating it over and over again it felt so right. I am now your sister in Islam, Allahu Akbar!

Happy 2BA Muslim

Subhanallah i felt really good after reading your post...very touching, Allah truly guides those who are sincere and willing to see the truth...this verse is for you to me :)

"Now hath come unto you light from God and a plain Scripture whereby Allah guideth him who seeketh His good pleasure unto paths of peace. He bringeth them out of darkness unto light by His decree, and guideth them unto a straight path [Qur'an 5:16]"

And yes you are now part of the largest brotherhood in the world, from every nation and from every race(i'm african) welcome sister and may you stay in the light and the straight path

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah hiwabarakatuh,

MasyaAllah! Welcome to the family Ukthi boupj! Don't worry too much about not finishing the Quran, being a recent revert, I myself have not completed it. And I myself took my own sweet time to revert!

I also have such friends: Muslims since birth but they do not really practise. All I can do is occassionally give them advice and pray for them constantly. Allah knows best!

Allahu-akbar !
Masha-Allah, sister. Hartiest welcome to u sister, Allah really gave u strength. i pray for u and all other brothers and sisters who are waiting out there to have the courage and u know u r one of the bravest out there, may Allah be with u always

As for those who think that just by name they can be Muslims and they need not to follow it , Quran makes it clear to all of us that:

Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, "We believe", and that they will not be tested?
We did test those before them, and Allah will certainly know those who are true from those who are false
Do those who practise evil think that they will get the better of Us? Evil is their judgment!
For those whose hopes are in the meeting with Allah (in the Hereafter, let them strive); for the term (appointed) by Allah is surely coming and He hears and knows (all things). Al-Ankaboot: 2-5

And as for people like YOU, Quran says

And (as for) those who strive hard for Us, We will most certainly guide them in Our ways; and Allah is most surely with the doers of good
Al-Ankaboot 69

Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends).
Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil),
And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best
We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss.
AL-LAIL: 4-7

And i love this verse very much and i love to quote it everytime i can

Say: "O my Servants who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah: for Allah forgives all sins: for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most MercifulAZ-ZUMAR :53

So all the humanity turn towards Allah for he is willing to forgive all sins and is guiding u for yr own good

Aslamoelakum my respected sister in islam,
Ist of congratulation for urs reverstion to ISLAM.Welcome to community of muslim brothers and sisters who are of from all over the world and have different origin and color but one thing common in all of them masAllah that is beauty of Islam.

My biggest fear is that I would be a bad representative of Islam because of the very bad lifestyle I've lived before and that people will think I'm a hypocrite, now I know that this doesn't matter because only Allah knows what's in your heart and that only Allah is important, but it's still very scary.

Plz take all this fear out as when you took shahadah all what you have done in urs life before Islam is forgiven and there are very clear teaching about it from Quran and Sunnah. On day of judgement you have this plus point then a born muslim who is not practicing because he have to answer about his deed right from the start.

Just obey Allah subhantala and ask for strength and peace.Prayers of all muslims brothers and sisters are with you.

May Allah guide urs friend who are born muslim.MasAllah you still looking urslef belssing of Allah working on you that despite of such friend you have given lot of bad things.:ma: I respect you my sister .may Allah give you more and more strenght every day.You donot have to care this that what they think about you and forgive me to say this that it a kind of shame for them and i pray that insAllah you will preach them slowly and then will also come to right path.Remember a TRUE FRIEND of you will never say think idiot or stuff like that. Its time to see who are urs real friends.I suggest you to find new muslim sisters who are adherent to Islam and belive me you will find amzing respect and care from them.I am not sure if you have mosque in urs area or place where u can meet good muslim sisters.

Hmm.Also consider you e-friends on this site as urs well wisher and true friends/brothers and sisters.:SMILY346: :hijabi: I am 100% sure that all of them are really happy with yours revertion to ISLAM.:muslim_child:

Because we've spoken a lot and they hate hijab because they don't properly understand it so when I start wearing one they'll think I've lost my mind and I know that they'll stop talking to me, they already have because I've stopped partying, but they will completely cut me off and I'm woriied that I don't have the strength to handle all of the pressure.

I undrestand my sister you might lose some of urs friends but remeber the friends you will lose are those who are 'NOT' even called to be yours freinds.I am sorry to say i will call them seasonal friends who are with you for enjoyments only. I hope u will get my point.insAllah if you will loose urs friends belive me you will find many new friend who will really love yours for sake of Allah as urs brothers and sisters and they will be urs real freinds.ALSO Allah is best of protector and take care of every thing in this universe.so plz donot let any thing to come over you for which you have to give up yours belief on rights things.

may Allah bless you at every step of urs life.Ameen

I know that Allah does not put a burden that we can't handle, so hopefully I will take shahada soon, I just ask that you pray for me if you can (and all other's out there who want to convert but are scared.)
Thanks for taking the time to read, and sorry I took longer than I expected.

i already read urs post and masAllah to know about urs revertion to ISLAM.

You are more then welcome to discuss any thing here and our PRayers are with you always.

Hello sister my name is Abdulqadir and I would like to share some words with you inshallah.
First of all may Allah guide you to the straight path and keep you there. Allah said in the quran talking about the disbleivers and the ones that had the bad freinds that lead them to HELL. He the All-Mighty, All-Seeing,All-Hearingsaid this might not be the exact meaning but inshallah you'll get it. He said "the day when the disbelievers will bite their finger saying woe to me have we been with the prophet ( meaning following his sunnah then they would've been with him the day of judgement), woe to me why did I make friends with him/her.
Sister your friends might say you're crazy or lough at you but it is only a matter of time remeber that. inshallah in the day of judgement you will have the loughs to lough and they will have the cries to cry if they don't repent to Allah the most Forgiving.
Sister our beloved Prophet MUHAMMED (P.B.U.H) said becarefull who choose as your freind because the bad freind and the good freind are different.
The bad friend is like a blacksmith and if you hang out with him/her they will either burn you cloth or you will get the bad smell from them. As the good freind is like the one who sells the perfume and hanging out with him/her you'll benefit from them because if you like perfume you'll bye it or if don't have the money you try couple of them and leave with a good smell. So both times you'll benefit. MAY ALLAH KEEP YOU ON THE STRAIGHT PATH.

Your brother: MUCAD

those kind of "muslims" who you would find parying fridays and ramadan i think we used to call them the "jumma shift".

as for those who fast ramadan, little do they know all they gain from that is just thirst and hunger, how sad:( and what a waste.

sister theres no dought that if you leave friends like that for the sake of allah, allah will replace them with friends that will last and are warm. i have been blessed with friends like that.

remember this your friends will have an affect on who you are. you have bad friends you end up compramising with islam. but with good friends they will aid you in getting close to allah.

:bismillah: assalamualyakum sister I could take shahada here and that you'll all be witness, and another said I shouldn't wait and I know that they were very right. I've been waiting until I learnt how to pray etc.. before saying shahada, but now I realise that I should say shahada first because Allah has put it upon my heart and I can continue to learn and grow after I've said it. So here goes:

ashadu Anla ilaha ilalah wa ashadu ana Muhamadan rasululah it made me cry when i read it

Thank you all for giving me the courage to finally do it. I feel know that I am in for a rocky road but I feel at peace. After typing that phrase I just sat there staring at it and repeating it over and over again it felt so right. I am now your sister in Islam, Allahu Akbar![/quote]
