Salam everyone,

I am abdullah. I was raised in a religious family in bangladesh. Islam was always forced upon me not a choice, but as a mandatory part of my daily life. I was forced to do islamic activities ( salat, reading quran etc ) since childhood. As i grew up, i gradually started loosing interest on islam. After moving to canada with my parents, i started to see the vast difference between christians and muslims and in many extent i found christians to be much better than many muslims. Then I decided to learn about christianity by reading bible, discussing with other christian friends etc. But, the idea of trinity, original sin just didn't make sense to me. So, i started reading Qur'an again but this time the English version. An interesting thing is that we in bangladesh (majority of people) can read the arabic Qur'an thoroughly including the harkats and other rules, but we dont understand a SINGLE word of it. After reading the Quran sometime, now i feel islam is the right choice for me. I finally want to become a good muslim now and follow the sunnah by my Choice, not by any force. I am glad alhamdulillah i found this site. I look forward to learn a lot from here :arabi1:

wa alaykum assalam.

welcome to the forum. I know what you mean how many people do not take the time to read the words behind the Arabic of the Quran. How are you to understand and follow the revelation if you don't know what it means?

May Allah help you in your path to righteousness...

wassalam.

Welcome to Turn To Islam it is great to have you here.
I am really glad to hear that your interest for islam increased. I know that it can be hard to accept something when its forced upon you. But its really great that you looked at other religions and saw the difference.
And it is also great that you want to become a good muslim because that is what we all strive for. May Allah always guide us to the right path.

Salaam alikoum abdullahrahman! I am amazed that so many Muslims can read the beautiful and glorious Qur'an but not know what a single word of it means.... I have the opposite problem. I first read the Qur'an in English- but now am having great struggles trying to both recite Arabic and read it. Truly, the Qur'an is so much more beautiful in Arabic- it has a differant essance in it's true form. translation does little justice to it's beauty.
I am so happy you came back to Islam. May Allah (swt) continue to guide you. :) Good luck to you brother.

walaikum as salam wa rahmatullahi wabrakatuhu brother
Subhan Allah ... I rediscovered Islam too since 2001 when I started to read its meanings through an English version...and still learning and getting to know so much even though I am a born muslim. The problem doesnt lie only in Bangladesh but in India,Pakistan,Sri Lanka,Nepal etc in some other south east asian countries as well.
May Allah give us tawfeeq and hidayah and make us more better muslims.
May Allah include us amongst the foremost, who are ressurected in His shade, receive our book in the right, cross the sirat faster than the speed of light and be united with our beloved Prophet, residing in the eternal presence of our Merciful Lord ~ ameen
