Salam Oualekoum Sisters and Brothers!!!
I've created this thread just to have a little overview of the different degrees or knowledge the members of this site have. I think some of you study law, science, medecine, mathematics, history, or religion (MashAllah) etc...
The Qu'ran is a incredible Book that deals with History, Law, Economics, Science, Geology, Biology, Sociology, Theology etc that's why I think our community must do the same. Allah wants us all, males and females, to seek knowledge, to learn, because the more we understand the world we live in, the more we know Allah, and the more we love Him INSH ALLAH!!!
So I'm going first :
I'm an Telecommunication Engineer, I started working a year ago after graduating with a master degree of science and telecommunication. I thank God for this.
May Allah guide us all.

I currently have a two year (Associate's in Applied Science) degree in Computer Networking and I am currently working on my four year bachelor's degree in the same field. Insh' Allah I will finish the four year degree within the next couple years because I am only doing this part time now and working full time at an Internet service provider. We are currently working on the creating the largest wifi network in the US and second largest in the world! So much knowledge to be had!! Alhamdullilah!! In my spare time outside of school, work and taking care of my daughter I study various books on Islam to increase my knowledge there as well. Insh' Allah my brain can take all this information in! :hijabi:

Salam - I have a BS in Business Administration, with an education concentration. I have about 1/4 of a graduate degree in Education. I have 6 certifications from Microsoft in it's MS Office applications. I have been a business/computer teacher for 10 years, teaching everyone from age 3 to 67 at one point or another.
If I had the opportunity, I would be a full-time, life-long student - I love to read and study and learn. The history channel, Discovery channel, animal planet, and others like those are my favorite channels to watch on TV.
And for the 12-step program....

Mash Allah for every one who s seeking the path of the knowledge. May I also add with no particular reference to this thread but let s say in general that Allah Loves humility, ..then, whatever we do study next to the Quran el kareem, should we not forget that our main duty is to improve in Allah s knowledge , our identity is to be muslim, Allah Wants us to search, to be avid of learning, to teach and spread every think that may help the human being to go out this ignorance and this desperate ildleness we ve to be interested, opened, creative, ambitious, cultured...dialectically, humbleness is a necessair duty cause Allah Don't like the arrogants..
May Allah always Show us the right way to be, ameen

Are you sure sister, there is no reference to this thread, really ? really? lol
Even though I totally agree with you, muslims should not show any arrogance but humility, and humbleness!
This thread was NOT meant to exhibit degrees, diplomas or jobs of any kind, but to show how open minded, and creative this community is, MashAllah!!!
No hard feelings, i just needed to make it clear!
May Allah guide us all, inshallah !!!

I really didn't mean that at all, I cleared that up just in the case that other ppl wouldn't understand the interest..don't forget I answered to ur question exposing my own degree level too lol:confused: . Yet, these introductions made me think about the word "humility" in itself and I really really don't see any pb to show that up, we ll never say it enough ..Yes, mashaAllahhhhhh to all of us and dot if u allow:shymuslima1:
( je ne faisais aucune allusion aucune à qui que ce soit bien au contraire, ceci dit, je me suis plûe à rappeler à quel point il est louable de rester humble en tte circonstance et je le dis peut être maladroitement, thrs est-il que je l ai ressenti non pa dans les lectures et présentations des uns et autres mais juste pour reprendre le modèle exceptionnellement humble et modeste de notre prophète SAW...l endroit n était peut-être pas très judicieux, j' assume:redface:

Salam - but where is the line drawn between being proud of one's accomplishments and "bragging"? I personally am proud of the fact that I have my degrees and certifications - I believe it says something about me as a person. I am also very thankful to God for giving me intelligence and the opportunity to capitalize on my intelligence. A person can be both proud and thankful. I do not mean that a person should be going around bragging and being boastful, but that they should be happy for the rewards of their hard work.
My humble opinion,
Lana

no one told u not to be proud .. a little bit difference betwen pride and arrogance, u re right to be proud noone would contest it, this is the way u go ahead and that gave us all strenght to have the desire to make more ...
I definitevely shouldnt ve talk about that subject here lol..everyone reports it to its own person instead of understanding in a whole interest.....
be proud my dear always, humilty has nothing to contest to pride lol

I am doing my graduation in Aeronautical Engineering, and Insha Allah will finish by summer 2008.I have got lots of plans to work for Islam and for the muslims.I am a volunteer in Islamic Organisation and also work with the muslim youth discussing their problems.

I am Houari from Algeria, I have been teaching English for about 14 years to school children between 12 to 16 yrs old. I got my degree in teaching fifiteen years ago and a degree in business English in 1998. I practised businees as well for about 5 years which permitted me to go through Europe and learn a lot about Islam in that continent...& Alhamdulilah.....Islam :ma: will return with the greatest powers u've never dreamed of sooon. Such Idea from sis delyan will pave the way to co-operation between world muslims which is of a must "wa Taawanoo ala Albari Wa takwa.." truely was our prophet PBUH, and "Wa aatasimo bihabli allah Jamia Wala tafarakou..." , so together we stand :SMILY346: and devided we fall..Ishaalah we'll always be gathered & never separated. The greatest forum of Muslim is about starting in this Haj, and we do hope that it will be a place where young muslims with zeal and energy will be able to attend it and share their ideas  for a better Islamic world. I am civil Engineer by profession but now just finishing my double master degree in Petroleum Engineering from two respected universities of Germany and Denmark by grace of Allah.
In future I wish to study political science (Islamic) or Islamic Socialogy as a part time.insAllah this is my dream to serve muslim Umma.Unfortunatly few good muslim bro and sisters study and adopt the profession related to this at this time of fitna when every body is mad on Islam. Thus people of secular or non-islamic thoughts have monoply on deciding issues which are v important for muslim societies. If Allah give me a chance i will change my profession completly and get involved in social issues of muslim community.

Also there is no problem in telling about one's profession. Its is basically the intension which matters. One dat you are expressing urs feelings of thanking Allah subhanatala about all He have give us and second it can be a kind of inspiration for others esp coming generations.
We want all muslim bros and sisters to get as much as education as possible so that they have can stronger voices and also most imp thing is that we need educated muslim brothers and sisters who have islamic aptitude.
Plz remember in urs PRayers about my wishs and dreams to serve ISlam.Ameen Ameen

Assalamu alikum,
I am a physician. To be more specific, I am an obstetrician-gynecologist. With Allah`s blessing and guidance, I also did a fellowship (subspecialty training) in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. In other words, I am a Perinatologist, or a high-risk pregnancy specialist.
I ask Allah to make us all sincere in our intentions. The more we seek and gain knowledge, the more we find out how ignorant we really are.

Anyway, I have a degree in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) I am an English teacher ( he he that obvious huh) and I only started working in 2004 and I know being a teacher especially teaching English as a second Language is a huge challenge but so far Alhamdulillah whenever I pass by such hardship with any authorities I return myself to Allah for guidance. So far, I love my profession and Alhamdulillah I was also given the chance to undergo a counselling course of which I plan to do my Diploma (In-service) and by Allah's will, Insya Allah, I plan to further it to degree. I also plan to go for masters in education but the thing is in my country we have to wait for 5 to more years to be approved. Walwahualam bissawap. I hope I will have rizqun for what I plan insyaAllah. :hijabi:

Asslamalaykum dear brothers and sisters, I just want to share some thing about my won experience. I finished my master degree in this year (master of education), subhananllah later I found that I spend too much time on those acadamic study and had less or even no time on learning the Deen(religion), it is a big sham that I am holding the master degree but knows very little about the Deen(religion), so I realized during such many years I really wasted my time, now I am starting to learn the Deen, inshaAllah I will learn Arabic, Quran and Sunnah..... life is short, except Allah, nobody knows when we will died, may be tomorrow..... so my dear brothers and sisters it is really important for us to learn the Deen from now. may Allah protects us from all useless things, and guide us to the right path Ameen.

I did Bsc(I.T) and now i am doing my master degree of the same subject and planing to do some networking courses insha allah

But I haven't got a degree other than a high school diploma. Inshallah, I will major in what ever field Allah SWT has prescribed for me.

I am a Religious Studies major, about a year away from graduating with my B.A. My school offers an Islamic Studies Certificate, and I had always been interested...and الحمد لله it is those classes for my certificate that brought me to Islam. :ma:
I'm also sort of...half-majoring in the Arabic language. I'm spending a month in Jordan this summer to learn more, and I'm trying hard to save money so إنشاء الله I can take my Masters and PhD there as well.
:wasalam:
Asslamo Allaikum,
Where do I start?
I have a Diploma in Hunan Relation and Psychology, majoring in Crimminology. ( I used to be a Senior Prison Officer, Special Operations).
A Certificate in Justice, and until recently sat on the Bench hearing Summary offences and Commital Hearings
Diploma in natural Therapies and Counselling, Specialising in Terapeutic massage, Substance Abuse and relationship Counselling. Wish I could have used it on myself.
Studies in Theology at Seminary College. Didn't finish, couldn't see myself as being called Father Anthony.
Diploma in I.T. and Business, specialising in Computer technology and Software. Mercantile Law. with qualifications in Finance and Credit Control
I have also studied at University level, Forensic Anthropology, Historiography and the Social Sciences.
I am now studying the Quoran.
I am self employed as a Full Time father to my 13 year old Daughter.(Her Mother abandoned us).
A voluntary teacher and Counseller to the poor, the Aged, Migrants and the unemployed.
I do not work per se', my government pays me enough money to live and raise and educate my child, so I give it back to the community. I am Humbled and thankful that I can do this for the people.
I love all Humanity, I may not love what they do, but that does not change things. From the lowest to the greatest among us, each is deserving of Love, charity and support when in need.
Apart from my occasional forays into Foreign Wars, as an Aid Worker. I have led an interesting life.
I hope my next life is a little less exciting.
Salaam my friends

I am a new member of this website, I have done bachelors in computer science from International Islamic university,Islamabad, then worked as software engineer in pakistan for two years. presently i am doing MSc Networks and E business centred computing in Europe as Erasmus student.
First i went to university of reading, UK and these days in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, and taking exams, brothers and sisters, please pray for me,:salah:
Wassalam.
Muhammad Ahmed
Salam,
Many years ago I earned a degree in Psychology and a masters in human development and education. I have worked as a regular education teacher, adult edcuation teacher, special education teacher, college professor, IT saleswoman, store clerk, social worker, and family, individual, and marriage counselor.
My greatest accomplishment would be that Allah gave me two wonderful sons and a lovely husband.
My goal is to serve Allah as He wishes.
I often feel awkward in writing to you because I feel the age difference. I want to thank everyone that takes the time to read my responses. I have been very fortunate because I have had the richness of life. And I can assure you that life gets better as you get older..each day you know you are one day closer to meeting Allah.

'And I can assure you that life gets better as you get older'
Really? i only hear old people complaining, 'i wish i was 20 yrs younger'
Maybe you have more wisdom, cos im getting that from you, not that im saying your old or anything.
Salam,
I am 51 years old. Allah has given me a wonderful life. If I could turn back the clock then I would not be able to understand the tapestry that has been my life. Each experience has made me what I am today. If you would be kind enough to think with me for a minute: Allah has given us this temporary life...we are born...we...live...we die...and then it is eternal life...why would I want to stop this process..is not life really waiting for the angle to put the book of record in your right hand...Inshalla, the angle is busy writing at this moment.

:salam2:
I started school in Sweden, studying all of primary, secondary and GCSE.
Then I came to the UK and managed by the Grace of Allah to do my A-levels and did ok Allhamdulillah.
I then went on to study Medical Engineering at University for 3 years, graduated and applied to study Medicine the same year. I got a place on a competitive course, a fast-track medical course running for 4 years and am almost finishing off my 1st year Allhamdulillah. I had always wanted to study medicine and MAshaAllah it really is one of the most amazing subjects. However it takes too much of my time at the moment as I'm doing 2 years in 1 for the first year and I hope it'll slow down in 2nd year. That the main problem and that's the downside def. It takes too much of my time.
MashaAllah i'm very impressed by the educational level of the brothers and sisters on the site. But the most important education undoubtedly is Islaam and those of you who have strived harder in this are doing better than me. InshaAllah I would like to travel and study in an islamic country after this. make dua for me.
take care,

:salam2: i love to play piano too. i'm just a self-learner and i do learn some computer music and dealing with virtual sampler. well, i wouldn't dare to say music is totally haraam or halal because this issue is still a khilaf. Some people say it's haraam because it is majority of the scholar opinions. so i wondering 'majority' of scholars in the US, Europe, or the world?
I fear Allah and i dont' dare to decide what is halal or haraam. Because whoever legalised something which is haraam or vice versa should deserve punishment in Akhirat. Because the verse in Quran about prohibiting music is still debatable and has different opinions. So i leave myself with no comment.
anyway, music is not totally haraam in my country Malaysia. and many nasheed groups from malaysia perform singing with music, we have one of the very famous group called Raihan.
i'll try to avoid and give up those noisy music and contemporary pop. Because i just bought a second hand grand piano at my home, i don't think just leave it there right away.... so maybe i just play it in leisure time.
i believe no matter what we do we must do it only for Allah, and with positive aim. And Allah is the ultimate Judge, He is the one to decide what is right or wrong.

this is making me want to study! i mean i do of course im doing A levels at the mo but it is easy to lack the motivation sometimes
im studying chemistry biology and history it sounds a weird combination but ive always loved history from a young age
yknow how people make fun of muslims how it always ends up as 'doctor or engineer or computer science :)' well that cannot be said for us lot at TTI theres so much diversity in fields.
but i do feel we have 'muslim doctor overflow' and need to halt on them and go into politics etc were in desperate need for scholars awell
id love it but have the wrong subjects cos i thought medschool was for me :(
pray for me brothers and sisters and pls dont forget all of u.
i will pray for u also tht u have every success in ure endeavours and Allah put barakah in ure time inshallah.

May Allah guide us all.
i have two years of highschool and this is my third year inshAllah i am shooting for a diploma!

W-Salam,
I also used to play Piano, KB & Guitar.
However it reached a point where it started to affect my relationship with Allah (SWT) so I quit; I am ashamed to say that I continued to play despite people telling me that it was HARAM!
In my opinion there are two things which have a devastating impact on a man:
1) Woman
2) Music
Its just a matter of when Allah (SWT) gives the person the realisation of it.

Asalamu Alykum,
Until i found out it was concrete Haram to listen to music, i just deleted it all and did like a pretend spit on it. <-----(I dont know why i did that :)
Personally im happy i got rid of it because listening/reading the Quran is a lot more beneficial. Its difficult to describe music but i will keep it as trash/rubbish for now.
It can be difficult to get rid of it, but once you do and get in a routine of doing something else that is beneficial you will relise it was a great decision, which it seems like you have so Alhamdulilah.
Alhamdulilah

I am studing Childrens Nursing first year in University,
as i am interested in the development of babies etc. as taught in the quran it states the stages of development of a embryo right up to a foetus ALLAHU AKBAR this is what i find interesting and i think many of you find it intersting to know how we grew.
science found this recently compared to the quran which was present way before any scanning machine subhanallah and they think they are developed and up to date with research lol :ma: allah the all wise gave us this information i wonder any other information that we have not yet unveiled in the noble Qur'an ?

A Psychoanalysis Is Some One Who Helps People Who Have Phobia's or Obsessive behaviour or Have Some Sort Addiction To Something "Analytic Patients"
A Psychoanalysis Formulates Nd Then Explains The Unconscious Basis For The Patient's Symptoms And Character Problems.
Basically Its::
"psychoanalysis comprises several interlocking theories concerning the functioning of the mind"
Does That Make Sense??

Brother I m from Bangladesh too, I know the problem u r facing but this is not the way to ask. Here U may not get any help as many people cheat this way. Moreover, u even don't know how much u need exactly to solve the problem but defenitely whatever even if u get somethgin may not fulfill u r need. The best Amal that have seen to do the Salatul hajat. Pls identify the problem and place it to Allah Subhanahu tayala everytime u pray saltul Hajat. if possible try to pray this after each salat. Inshallah u will get amazing help for u and u r family from such a tresure, which is waiting for us to give. Alhamdulaillah many prblem solved in our life this way. Ask Allah he never deprive u and pls keep patience.

Brother,
I am afraid salatul Hajaah has no basis in Islam. Try tahajud instead
Surely Tahajjud is a better option. But I have heard from islamic scholars to offer salatul hajat. Reference is following:
"Abullah ibn Abi Awfa (Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Whoever has a need with Allah, or with any human being, then let them perform ritual ablutions well and then pray two rakats. After that, let them praise Allah and send blessings on the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace). After this, let them say,
There there no god but Allah the Clement and Wise.
There is no god but Allah the High and Mighty.
Glory be to Allah, Lord of the Tremendous Throne.
All praise is to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
I ask you (O Allah) everything that leads to your mercy, and your tremendous forgiveness, enrichment in all good, and freedom from all sin.
Do not leave a sin of mine (O Allah), except that you forgive it, nor any concern except that you create for it an opening, nor any need in which there is your good pleasure except that you fulfill it, O Most Merciful!”
[Related by Tirmidhi and Ibn Maja. The hadith has some weakness, but it is slight: such hadiths are acted upon for virtuous deeds (fada’il al-a`mal) by general agreement of Sunni scholarship]

After Allah His Messenger(sallalahualaihiwasallam) and my parents my first love is Maths.lolx
Well I am just passionate about it.I hate it when people associate education with money making, its simply disgusting.
I have learnt it from my past experience its just the beauty of it that attracts me.Alhamdulillah! Its such a beautiful gift of Allah.
There are a lot of stressed up kids in my part of the world beacuse of the way education is looked at.
Its not just for money.
Anyways sorry foe blahblahing too much.
Have a nice day.
JazakAllah khair.

wow really great to see we have such a broad base. there is knowledge here of every kind :)
I myself study history at the University of Amsterdam. Unfortunately some problems in the situation with my father caused a gap of a year in which I could hardly study at all, so I'm a bit behind now...... but happily started the second-year-subjects this year and filled my time last year with 'subjects of choice' (don't know how to translate it correctly) and working. I hope to become a teacher of history one day insh'Allah :)

You can do some robotics project(industrial robotic arm with some special features). You may do some project on unmanned aerial vehicle(just a simple prototype for undergrad school project). I am sure you will find some open source project on UAV

When I was in the third grade we were given a test to measure IQ. The teacher told us when we finished we could bring our paper to her desk and then quietly go out and play. I went down the answer sheet marking random letters without ever reading the questions. I was done in 10 minutes and for the rest of my time in public school was considered to be mentally challenged.
After returning from Vietnam, I took a test because I was an Non-Commissioned-Officer and received my GED High School Diploma.
It is difficult for me to talk about my intelligence and education without appearing to brag because for so many years as a child I was considered to have a low IQ.
I later was accepted into MENSA (the only requirement is that one has an IQ in the top two percent of the world- see what I mean about bragging) and I maintained a 3.75 GPA at Penn State University where I majored in Cultural Anthropology. Since it is impossible to earn money from undergraduate degrees in Anthropology, I have numerous certifications in trades: High Steel Iron Worker, Master Dog Trainer, Tractor Trailer Driver and Instructor, Martial Arts Instructor, and a few others and an ordination as a Pentecostal Minister.
I do apologize for my apparent lack of humility and "long winded" posts, but having spent most of my working life as a blue collar type guy, I have had to hide my intelligence and education in order to be accepted by my co-workers. The last thing you want when working 180 feet up on a narrow beam is for your co-workers to think you are an "over-educated', arrogant, jerk who needs to be "brought down." lol
Seriously, I am proud of my intelligence and education, Alhmaduelah. And, thankful for any accomplishments that Allah has provided me with the ability to accomplish. But, I fully realize that the only thing that matters on Allah's Judgment Day is what the angels have written in the books and if you truly believe La ilaha illa Allah wa-Muhammad rasul Allah.

As-Salamu 'Alayki, Sister dodo, I was wondering the same thing about you. Just kidding. I think I am probably guilty of posting the longest posts with the least value to my words (with the exception of the priceless words of the Quran that I occasionaly am able to apply to the subject.

I have a Bachlor's degree in Management Information Systems, and then a Master of Business Administration degree, with major in Marketing and Finance. I worked 2.5 months at a bank, and then fled from there. Now I never ever want to work at a bank again, due to the interest issue, so I've been looking at other jobs. Though now I realize degrees practically mean nothing when you look for a job and have no work experience, and finally, none of this education is going to matter in the end on Judgement Day. Sorry, don't mean to be discouraging! The more educated you are, the more your mind has the ability to think and judge etc.

As Salamu 'Alayki, Sister Tabassum,
Here is a link for MENSA (http://www.mensa.org/index0.php?page=10) and the requirements are listed. Like I said, I joined because thirty or more years ago, I was insecure about myself and need external validation of my worth.
Once accepted you can choose an annual membership plan or one of several other plans including a lifetime membership.
Another reason for joining is it looks good on a resume as does a good college or university and letters of commendation from the military or previous employers.

hey im a mensan too! tested in 2003 (98%, 148) but i declined the membership. the fees wasnt much but i was broke.
tbh IQ is overrated and i think EQ is far more important. However, creativity is the real deal with me!

MasaAllah good to see a thread like this. Its really wonderful to see Muslim brothers and sisters who are striving to learn and keep abreast with the world and at the same time giving top priority to DEEN.I haven't gone through the whole thread but somewhere I remember someone discussing about a Muslim Business Networking.Did anyone start this thread? Also why not upload books in pdf format here if possible just like we have in other networking sites. This would help our bros/sis download lot of material be it Islamic or other study related matter.
BTW I have done Masters in Telecommunication and currently working as an Operations Manager.

I have recently completed a PGCE. My academic background was in English and Philosophy.

Esselamu alejkum brother
So you've completed your studies of philosophy.
I don't like philospohy ,many philosophers are atheists
like Nietche ,May ALL-LLAH destroy him.Phylosophy
is not a science there is nothing exact ,there is always
doubt.I know there are some muslim philosopers like Ibn Sina ,Ibn Rushid etc,for them I can read but not for some atheist.
In my last class of philosophy my teacher explained about
Nietche and he said you must learn about him.How Can I learn
for an atheist.Even you know Nietche spent his last 11 years
suffering as a crazy man,you should know it is a punishment
that ALL-LLAH swt sent to him for this dunya.
Tell me it worth to learn some stupid things for atheist philosophers?
I want to know what do you think about that what I said.

i studied classical music and i use to playthe piano and guitar but then islam came along so i had to give up that rubbish!! ihad never in my life thought i`de find anything more beautiful than music but i was wrong i guess iuse to wake up everymorning at fourto write and compose stuff before going to school that`s how passionate i was about it! but now when i wake up at that time it`s for another reason allhamdulilah. am currently studying languages in order to get a degree as a translator since it was the easiest alternative for me to (haram)because i had already spoken 6 languages at 17 so i guess that was a gift from Allah swt for me to rely on i guess he had planed it all for me i still have a year to go so wish me good luck please!!!!because when am done with that inschallah i wish to study islam too!in order to improve my knowledge because that`s the only thing above all i believe that deserves to be called knowledge!
