View Full Version : Hello
Irish Brother
12-23-2007, 12:57 AM
I am a 31 year old male living in Yorkshire, England but from Irish Catholic background.
I have 2 children and a wonderful wife.
For the last 10 years I have always had an interest in Islam and have always made an effort to learn about the religion that to me seems to be the religion of Peace (despite what the media tell us in Britain and America!)
There have been moments in the last 2 years that I have said to people that I would like to live the Islamic way, but many things stop me from taking this step - mainly the habitual life I lead up to today (I am Irish, so of course I like a drink:SMILY259:) but I know I can stop this as I'm happier when I do not have a substance that prohibits my judgement.
Anyway, that is me and I pray you all had a wonderful Eid.

Hello Irish Brother,
Thank you for the Eid greetings. Welcome to the global family. Inshallah (God willing) you'll find TTI resourceful and beneficial. Please do not hesitate to ask ANY questions you might have.
Every human being should step outside their "box" and ask themselves, what is the purpose of life? Why am I here? How do I live life? Who is the Creator?
I recommend you listen to shaykh Khalid Yasin. You can purchase his DVDs or watch them on youtube/online.
Don't worry, everyone has their own faults. Including myself. Inshallah you'll learn to deal and avoid the temptations of this world. Praying 5 obligatory prayers a day helps tremendously in losing these bad habits.

Welcome to TTI brother. Masha'Allah, the Irish are truly down to earth people (IMHO).
I'd second the invitations for you to ask any questions
I pray that Allah gives you happiness in this world and the hereafter. Amin

:salam2: Dear Irish Brother,
I am so happy that you have taken this first step to join TTI.
The next step is to learn about Islam.
The main source of all knowlegde in Islam is Quran. After that comes Hadees.
So, read/study Quran with translation as well as explanation.
One such website which contains translation and explanation in English is:
http://www.tafheem.net/main.html
Thanks for your Eid Greetings. I pray that Allah gives you guidance and happiness in this life and the next. Ameen.
