:bismillah: Asalaamu Alaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh,
My kunya is UmmHanan and I am a 36 year old mother living in Brooklyn, New York. I am a teacher for the Dept. of Special Education and I have a 12 year old daughter. I came across this forum by accident and Alhamdulillah I am glad I did. All the interesting people, information and videos are great. I am a revert of 11 years, Alhamdulillah but I have not always lived in places where there are a lot of muslims (I am of Caribbean decent and I have always moved around a lot which makes it hard to make a lot of friends). Add to that the fact that I am kind of quiet and stay to myself a lot, that is the reason why I still know so little about Islam.
At times I feel as though my Emaan is weak and I struggle to do the smallest things like getting up on time for Fajr. My Wali says that the reason I am having so much difficulty is because I am not married and I live a solitary life, so it is hard for a muslim woman alone and I suppose I agree with him. Anyway.. That brings me to the reason why I am here. If there are ANY muslimah's in the New York City area (Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Bronx, L.I.) that want to get together I would really love to get out and start meeting sisters that are serious about their deen and on the same page as I am insha'allah. I do know of a few sisters here in my area but I feel as though we are not exactly going in the same direction, so I basically keep to myself. Maybe if I can get to know a few sisters in the NYC area it will help increase my Imaan and others' as well. Who knows, if enough sisters respond maybe we can get a nice weekly Halaqa going here?!?! Anyway, if anyone is interested in just talking and hanging out, insha'allah you can contact me here.
Jazakallahu Khair:wasalam:
